Delete your account

You can delete your AKARUP account at any time, directly from the app. This page explains the procedure and the data that is erased.

How to delete your account from the app

Deletion takes a few steps, from the device you are signed in on:

  • 1.Open AKARUP and go to your profile.
  • 2.Select "Delete my account".
  • 3.Confirm your choice, then enter your password to authorize the operation.
  • 4.Deletion is immediate and permanent. Your account and its associated data are erased from our servers.

Data that is deleted

When you delete your account, the following data is erased from our servers, immediately and within a single atomic operation:

Account and identity

Your email address, your username, the hash of your password, and the public keys associated with your devices.

Devices and technical identifiers

All of your registered devices and their associated routing identifiers are deleted, revoking any further access to the account.

Pending messages

Encrypted messages awaiting delivery (relay queue) addressed to you are purged.

Encrypted storage space (Drive)

The contents of your server-side encrypted storage space are deleted.

Notifications

The technical push notification tokens associated with your account are erased.

Local data on the device

After server confirmation, the app also erases the data stored locally on your device (local Drive and session data).

Data retained and timing

Account deletion is immediate: we apply no grace period and no deferred retention of account data. Two technical caveats, unrelated to any commercial use:

  • •The technical connection metadata (IP address) processed by our host and network provider to route traffic may briefly remain in their logs, in accordance with their own retention periods.
  • •Encrypted content already delivered to your contacts (messages, files) remains, by the nature of end-to-end encryption, on their devices; we have no access to it and cannot remove it remotely.

No longer have access to the app?

If you can no longer sign in to AKARUP but still wish to delete your account, write to us at [email protected] from the email address associated with your account. We will process your request after verification.
